  • Comments Thread For: Martin: Kownacki Was Pretty F--ked Up; Don't Know If He Can Come Back From Loss

Charles Martin likes and respects Adam Kownacki. The former IBF heavyweight champion hopes Kownacki can come back and thrive after suffering a fourth-round, technical-knockout loss to Robert Helenius two months ago. After what Martin witnessed from a ringside seat March 7, he simply isn't sure that'll be possible for a previously undefeated fighter who has beaten him.

I don't think this is so much of a case that Kownacki can't come back because he was badly damaged, but more of a sense that he can't really come "back" because he wasn't that good to begin with. If Helenius can catch you like that any heavyweight can. If that were Wilder or Joshua instead of Helenius then things would have gotten very ugly.

A lot of these guys like Kownacki might not have to wait to be exposed any longer. Due to ( Corona Vs. Boxing) the big money is not going to be flowing as easy as the past 24 months. I hope there is some truth to the talk of The Promoters that boxing will be more aggressive in real match making with a lower pay to fighters involved. That if true will weed out a lot of guys like Kow who got in on contracts due to the cash flow and Network deals of the past few years. And if some lower level fighters tighten up shape up and sharpen up all for the good of fight fans.

Yep, Fury is the next fraud to get it done to him!

Every dog has its day and Fury isn’t exempt!

John McDermott, Christian Hammer, Cunningham and Wilder 1 should’ve all had their day but we all know how lucky a Gypsy can get but it won’t last forever!

I can’t wait, it will be splendid to watch a cheater get his just dessert!

You should’ve read the posts, many were claiming Kownacki could take Wilder especially after he lost to Fury!

I think he’ll bounce back but he needs a trainer to help him work on defense and slipping punches!

It’s interesting, would Kownacki have beaten that version of Joshua, Ruiz beat since he was offered the fight but turned it down cuz he was “too fat”?

I don't really get why Charles Martin is talking. I remember before the Joshua fight "If he wants to beat me he has to fight my struggle - what I went through to get to where i am now".

Er.. No he just needs to hit you hard enough on the chin. This is a sport, not some competition where the person with the hardest life wins.

Kownacki had the best learning experience ever against Helenius. He needs to use that now to adapt his style slightly. I still don't see him going beyond top-8 but that's pretty good.

That's people on forums for you. Joshua was finished when Ruiz beat him, he would never win a fight again....

If Wilder beats Fury in their next fight he will go from being a "bum" to best fighter of all time - just you watch.

Kownacki looks like Shirley Crabtree's love child...

All this trash talk from boxers who are fighting to see who is the best of an awful bunch...

It can be tough to come back from a loss I think Joseph Parker has been damaged after being knocked down twice and bullied by Dillian Whyte recently Parker pulled out of a contracted fight against Chisora blaming an ant bite ffs I think he’s gun shy and now looking to fight inexperienced fighters or journeymen it’s sad to see.
