I dunno, I always liked Marg because he looks like a comic book bad guy. A mexican comic book bad guy, a proper cliche one. He was tough as hell and the whole gloves thing never bothered me because I was into the bad man persona.

Just seemed right for him to fight Spartan style. Fitting, the way the man carried himself out of the ring matches his in ring work well. How that translates to toughness, no clue, but he was tough.

Every fight he's had since his wraps were discovered, he's either lost in lopsided fashion (against superior competition) or won close/controversial decisions (against less than elite fighters).

I was always a huge fan of Margarito, but it’s hard to argue with your assessment.

I will get hate for this but i still think that he beaten Cotto fair ,Cotto was very chinny it this fight and got brutalized ,in 2nd fight Cotto was diffrent guy , he bulked up alot was physicaly strong + Margarito took 2 savege beatings before rematch.

I remember he went life and death with feather fisted Antonio Diaz, good fight but none of that punching power seen in the Cotto fight.

Margarito is a disgrace. He left Lujuan permanently disfigured almost ripping off his ear, ruined Cintron and Cotto.

I was Margs biggest fan but the guy is a disgrace and I’m not mad at any punishment he gets.

In his prime I thought he was pretty good. he had a great chin and you cannot tell who has a great chin by looks. He threw huge numbers of punches often over 100 punches every round. He was a decently hard puncher and good all around fighter although fairly easy to hit. I never thought his gloves were loaded for the first Cotto fight. I have never seen proof that they were but only assumptions. if the rules are followed a boxer must wrap his hands right in front of a member of the other team and a member of the boxing commission making it impossible to cheat. When the Cotto fight was over he took off his gloves and was shaking hands with many people. That is not what somebody would do if their gloves were loaded.

when are you azzholes gonna stop with the fairy tale Margs gloves were loaded? after the first cotto fight I saw a pic of marg after they took his gloves off and you could see where cottos trainer signed them. NO FIGHTER HAS HIS GLOVE PUT ON WITHOUT THE OTHER TRAINER SIGNING THEM. as far as cottos face after the Marg fight Manny bludgeoned cottos face into a gargoyle just like Marg did. was Mannys gloves loaded also

No hate from me because I also think he beat Cotto fairly and just said so. One other good thing about Margarito is that he was game as hell and would never quit.
