If Gatti is in the HOF, Does that Mean Micky Ward should be in it too?

    Simple question.

Both of them are club fighters. But of them are fight friendly fighters right ?

One got murdered and got in. So wouldn’t it make sense or at lease more sense for Ward to get in too ? Let’s make it , make sense. You got peanut butter in the HOF but left out the Jelly ?

What do you think below .

It’s the boxing hall of fame. You don’t have to be great to be inducted. But I don’t see Ward getting in any time soon as he wasn’t as popular as Gatti.

This...people forget that Gatti had some quality wins and won belts at 130, and 140. It was that coupled with his drawing power, and being in possibly the greatest fight ever that got him in. He was the A side vs Floyd, when Floyd was p4p 1-2.

I didn’t know a two division champion with a 40-9 record could ever be considered a club fighter.

Gatti weren’t a club fighter. He’s a two division world champion...

Should he be a HOF’er? Looking at it coldly, maybe not, but based on his contribution to the sport combined with his respectable accomplishments, I think you can make a fair case he deserves his place in the HOF.

I’m a huge Micky Ward fan but he just doesn’t have the accomplishments. Like Gatti he has made a significant contribution to the sport but he does not have the same body of work Gatti has.

I think there should be a wing in the HOF for fights, that way you could induct classic fights like Gatti-Ward, Corrales-Castillo etc featuring guys who might not make the cut as fighters.

Fair enough. He did have a Hollywood movie based on him and Gatti didn’t. Makes you think.
