  • Comments Thread For: Linares: First Fight Back I Want Is Rematch With Lomachenko

Jorge Linares has his wish list firm in hand-and it's loaded with the very best that the lightweight division has to offer. The former three-division titlist is angling for a third reign at lightweight as soon as his next ring appearance. His last days with a belt around his waist came during the ring walk for his May 2018 stoppage loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko. Their ESPN-televised clash was the most competitive fight for the Ukrainian southpaw, though sadly producing an end to Linares' 3 year stay atop the lightweight division spread out over two title reigns.

Why in the hell would Top Rank even want to give you a rematch? Linares knows that GBP would never fork up a substantial offer for a rematch. Lol

Same reason DAZN is constantly promoting Gervonta Davis and Lomachenko even though neither one fights on DAZN. The network divide is just for show. It's a big club, the false dividing lines are just to create drama, promotion, storylines, and use as excuses to delay fights for 5-10 years so that more money can be made off them. In my experience, every single person in this business is a liar, including all my favorite "fighters."

At least, in my experience they are liars about things they would consider unimportant, like "boxing." When it comes to a higher purpose, I believe they either are, or believe to be, prioritizing upper-case TRUTH above all else. Sorry to be so vague and cryptic but that's all I feel right saying, and it's just my opinion.

That’s different. If Linares hadn’t lost to Lomachenko and was signed with Matchroom then we’d hear offers being made to Loma to cross over to DAZN for a one fight deal because Eddie can get the money.

But because Linares already lost to Loma, why would DAZN even listen to GBP wanting to stage the rematch on their platform when Linares isn’t making noise? Davis is undefeated. DAZN would want Davis or Loma on their platform for a fight that makes sense and who isn’t Linares.

Plus we all know that Lomachicken got lucky first time around. Linares almost knocked him out cold with an arm punch

Loma will pick you apart faster this time around and you will not get that gifted Knock down either. Typically an immediate rematch are when fans are calling for it because the fight was good and close or controversial. There was nothing that showed Linares had what it takes to beat Loma.

Linares should’ve went for broke when Loma got up. Instead he was just back to range distance as if nothing happened... goes to show how dangerous Loma is. I bet Salido would’ve taken advantage of such an opportunity.
