I cannot knock Robinson for the amount fights he has had in his career but I can knock him for some the fighters he had on his record.
Some of those fighter had lost over 35 fights when facing Robinson and some were complete novices.
Back then it was the normal to have over 100 fights on record , even more and it was also the normal to face real journey men to the point they were no more than cans.
Take away the fact that there is no video evidence of Robinson as a welterweight So I cannot class as my the goat......I never have and I have been a rabid follower of boxing for over 35 years now.

You're putting down Robinson because he lost to the much bigger Maxim due to heat exhaustion in a fight he was handily winning when he was past his prime?

maxim had to fight in the same heat as Robinson so it works both ways , plus an interview after maxim did say he knew he was hurting Robinson and would catch up with him in the end...Leonard & hearns both boxed in 110 degree heat in 1981 in Vegas to.
I’m not putting Robinson down but we both don’t really know what happened.
Robinson seems to get an awful lot of passes for fights he has in his career when in reality he did lose to some fighters not on his supposedly level.
Boxing is the only sport where experts insist that a old school sportsman is better than the modern day sportsman.
              I don’t believe that

Maxim had to fight in the same heat but he wasn't the one fighting a man 15 pounds heavier.

That bout in no way is a blemish on Robinson.

That he could start out his career at 135 lbs (eventually beating the reigning champion at a catchweight)...then become the champion at 147 lbs...then become the champion at 160 lbs...then as an older man be beating the 175 lb champion of the world? On one of the hottest days in the history of NYC?

You simply tip your hat at what an incredible fighter he must have been.

I have never said he was not an incredible fighter but I’m not a sheep who follows what old timers say , I have my own eyes and can judge who for me belongs at the very top.
You’ve only ever seen old footage and read about him so your also one of the sheep.
Robinson was great fighter for his era and one of the legends but I don’t put him as the GOAT because one I was not born during his time and never watched and secondly the eye test for me I see other fighters that were better.
It’s opinions shoulder simple as that

It seems like you haven't even bothered to read or watch much of the old footage.

You're entitled to your opinion but it doesn't sound like a very educated one.

I’ve seem a lot of old footage of Robinson , in fact I watched the maxim fight the other night , I’ve watched fights where he looked amazing and I’ve seen fights where he looked very ordinary..as I said I don’t see Robinson as the goat...the uneducated one is the one who relies on old articles and old timers who give there opinion over everybody else’s and watch grainy black and white fight films to give them there own opinions.
As I said Robinson gets a lot passes for some of his losses which other fighters don’t
