We need separate site for the aging last generation of fighters who want to make a comeback. Martinez probably feels silly for taking the Cotto fight with 2 bad knees. I can't believe it took Cotto that long to dispatch of a guy who could not move below the waist. He may as well have been in a wheelchair for that fight.

A rematch with Cotto? What the hell! Why not?

When have you seen him call anyone out? In his mind he sits at the top and he chooses whom he allows to fight him. He does not need to call anyone out. He has a dozen potential fights to be made because everyone wants that payday. In the end his opponent needs to make financial sense.

Unless his knees are better, stay retired. What this sounds like is an exhibition match as a thank you to Spain and Argentina for all their support all those years. As long as he does not do permanent damage to himself. I just wonder if in 25 years or so are we going to see more Ali's. I hope not.

Sergio you made more investing your money from boxing than you did boxing

I think he wants to return because he’s bored and sad without the purpose of boxing fueling his life

I don’t think his style ages well neither does it facilitate longevity

I dont want to see old guys like this do traditional boxing. Wouldnt mind seeing them do bare knuckle against some MMA guys around the same age.

Besides a few freaks of nature, Boxing is a young mans game. Old fighters coming back usually make themselves and boxing look bad.

I'm too much of a fan to want to see this...the question is where and how long does this go? Till he gets KO'd? Find some new hobbies champ.

So you'd strip Manny and put him in there?

Well, Tommy Hearns's original style didn't age well nor did it facilitate longevity, but he changed it up and was highly competitive all the way up until he retired in 2006. In fact, I would argue that defensively he was way better as a fighter after he did change.

Point being: how you fought when you were young doesn't have to be how you fight when you're older. If you can learn to switch it up, you can still be competitive. Especially if you came from the older boxing training styles that no longer exist.
