Comments Thread For: Dmitry Bivol Would Move Down To 168 Pounds To Fight Callum Smith

Dmitry Bivol's preference is to remain at light heavyweight. A title unification fight against Artur Beterbiev very much interests the unbeaten Bivol, who owns the WBA 175-pound championship. Bivol obviously would move down to the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds for a lucrative shot at Canelo Alvarez as well.

We know that already but will he stay at LH and fight BB? This is the only fight we care about

Stay at 175 lbs and unify with Beterbiev.

No one cares about seeing him in with Callum Smith.

Although the "better" fight would be a 175 unification with Beterbie, maybe, a fight with Smith is easier to put together?

Should be Smith for a tuneup fight, then Beterbiev immediately after.

People keep saying fights vs guys like Smith aren't great fights, but then they just go and fight Isaac Chilemba and other guys no one cares about watching instead, which is even worse. Is Bivol vs Smith as good as Bivol vs Beterbiev, no, but I know one thing for sure, no one is interested in seeing either Bivol, or Beterbiev, or any of these top boxers, fight anyone worse than Smith, that's for sure.

Bivol would move to DAZN to avoid Beterbiev.

It's amazing some folks tried to knock Canelo for moving up to his 5th division to face Kovalev while propping up the less proven Bivol who seems more fixated on the guys a division below than those in his weight class. I suspect getting badly staggered by Smith caused him to reassess his ambitions at 175-- he cherrypicked a nobody afterward and is now trying to drag up someone a division below despite providing little financial incentive.
