Fres Oquendo hasn’t fought since 2014 and was shot back then, yet he is probably still owed a chance at the WBA title.
He’s going through another legal process right now to get it (and money in an escrow account he believes is owed to him.)
I’m expect to see a freakishly old Oquendo getting beat up by whoever the wba champion is in 2027 or some outrageous date like that.
That’s because Oquendo is fighting for money at this point (his lawsuit brought up his extreme financial struggles) and while I’m not a lawyer, after reading his case, he probably is owed his chance and his money.
So why don’t we all work to give Oquendo his payday and end all this misery?
Let’s have Charr and Bryan fight to end the debate about who the true fake wba champion is and then allow Oquendo to fight Mike Tyson for the new WBA interim belt.
Oquendo and Tyson are about the same age, they both haven’t fought in an extremely long time and they’re both very much shot. But it’ll be a payday for both, it’ll allow Tyson to have his comeback fight against a real boxer and it’ll allow both to fight for a “title.”
Hopefully the winner will be satisfied with the payday and the fake title, and retire without even facing the winner of Charr and Bryan.
I think it’s a great idea. I certainly think it makes more sense than exhibition matches against rugby players or a bare knuckle fight with Shannon Briggs.
