  • Comments Thread For: Arum: We'll Do Four-Fight ESPN Cards Two, Three Times A Week Starting In Early June

Bob Arum's promotional company is in the process of finalizing plans to start televising live boxing cards on ESPN early in June. Arum divulged during a recent appearance on SiriusXM's "At The Fights" details of a plan that'll require extensive, expensive testing for COVID-19 and would allow for two or three events per week from the same hotel in Las Vegas, without fans in attendance. Top Rank Inc., the company Arum co-founded in 1973, is based in Las Vegas.

Hmmm.... so a summer full of C level showcases and / or horrible mismatches. I hope I'm wrong, but I've been following boxing more than half my life.

The network even started televising live Korean Baseball Organization games last week.

I was impressed by the large crowds at the Korean ' Bunt Derby ' during their All-Star event. Next week the action heats up, ESPN will air the 2020 Tennis Ball-Boy grand-finals.

Toprank better bring it if they want Boxing to once again be America's most watch sport during this Corona epidemic, I know the competition is fierce but Bob Arum can do it.

Good. Boxing needs to get the momentum back quick.

I think you're mistaken, no mention from Bob or Top Rank that PBC fighters (C level loaded) will be exclusive...

Exactly! I said almost the same thing.....when I saw the last article where Arum talked about this type of event, I said as long as we don't have to watch 15-0 fighters going up against hapless 12-6 fighters! I hope I am wrong too!

I doubt it'll happen but Arum should be putting guys like Stevenson, Beterbiev, Ramirez, Berchelt, and Lomachenko in real fights on these cards because the exposure they'll get by being one of the only live sports on tv will be worth the loss of the gate revenue

Unlikely. I think we should get ready for some of the most pointless match-ups you've ever seen in your life. We are talking about Top Rank, and they've got a built-in excuse right now.

Yeah, Top Rank puts on crappy cards when everything is normal.

You gotta expect that it will be even worse under these circumstances.
