The question about how official scorecards in close fights/robberies can change the entire perception of a fighter is interesting. Had mayweather lost to castillo & maidana in the first fights, would he be viewed differently than he is, even if he won the rematches clean? How would Marquez look historically in comparison to pac had he gotten 3 or 4 wins against him instead of being 1-2-1 against him? How would Canelo be perceived at this moment had he lost a decision to Lara and twice to ggg? And on the contrary, how would Lara and ggg be perceived had those scores went their way? And in the case of Lara, he had a couple of other close ones go against him as well.

Words like hesitant, too much respect, conservatively, are never words I would use saying someone was "robbed" by judges???

Draw was fair or 7-5 GGG in 1st fight.
7-5 Canelo 2nd fight is fair


Those CRAZY 10-2, 11-1, or 9-3 cards for GGG are straight BSht!!!

One loss for Lara wasn’t even close!!! That was a tru robbery and not even close.

agreed with Lara, ironically, the fight he may have lost most convincingly wound up to be a win vs Molina. Either way, he does have an argument for deserving to be undefeated. Similar to Whitakers career up until the end when he finally lost convincingly to Trinidad.

GREAT advice!!!

I hadn't actually seen that from Mora, but I've always liked his insights as a pundit and commentator. Although it doesn't lessen my opinion of golovkin as a fan (far as I'm concerned any style is as good as the results it produces and FWIW I also consider Canelo to be a fundamentally conservative fighter), I've expressed the opinion of him for years that Golovkin is essentially a methodical, conservative fighter by temperment and training rather than the explosive KO machine he's often made out. The KOs came because he is highly skilled technician and because the high pressure, high volume and heavy hands combine to gradually wear opponents down whilst Golovkin himself will take few risks to land a killer shot unless he's already got an opponent to the point where they ain't really got much left.

Difficulty is I ain't sure he can get away from that mentality and I think his only shot at beating Canelo now is by a KO which has no chance of coming unless he's willing and able to throw caution to the wind... it'd probably be suicidal and would most likely end up with him getting stopped himself, but it's also pretty much his only shot at the W so what are the choices? His engine definitely isn't what it was in his early 30s as is to be expected, and his ability to simply outwork opponents was always a part of his game but he has to be able to adapt to the changes in his body. For most aging fighters that means fighting smarter, but against the younger, quicker Canelo (who has his own wealth of ring experience to draw on) I just can't see any way fighting smarter or veteran tricks benefits him. He just needs to throw the kitchen sink and hope it's enough.

And also he has no choice to change his game up a lil to protect him long term for retirement

I have said it many times, because it was clearly obvious...

Golovkin could not get his game going in EITHER fight with Canelo

in the first fight he could not deal with Canelo's movement/skills ... and in the rematch he could not deal with the fire

NO trademark bodywork... NO relentless pipe-bursting pressure...

... none of that " stand and fight like a Mexican " nonsense
