Comments Thread For: Nacho on Andy Ruiz: Despite Him Being Fat - He's Fast, Good Fighter

Hall of Fame trainer, Ignacio "Nacho" Bertistain, views former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz as a good fighter - despite his physical form. Ruiz created a massive upset back in June of 2019, when he dropped Anthony Joshua four times to secure a seventh round stoppage to capture the IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO world titles at New York's Madison Square Garden.

    2 or 3?

2 or 3 in the weight class? What? Didn't you see him beat AJ the best and he almost beat Parker. You are underestimating Andy just like AJ did bad move buddy. Even your article has one of the best saying Andy isn't a joke only looks like it.

If he had the mindset determination and training like Mayweather, he could have become an ATG Cruiserweight.

Andy is big boned ,his mother also carries the heavy gene and very overweight,Ive had friends growing up with a heavy mother who were skinny and vise versa ,Andy is a carbon copy of his mom ,no way does he ever see under 200 pounds at this stage or past the age of 17 ,this is all wishful thinking because he lost he is now looked as lazy, people who are in the gym with him know better .One thing you can criticize him on is his listening skills to the training but not his work output.

Funny how M. R's products get swept up by the Reynose's camp. Seems they don't need do anything just sign other trainer's products of hard work. Then again if they don't try to fit round holes with square pegs they can keep that other trainer's time and effort paying off for them. Unfortunately I'm afraid they are force fitting a fighter I like alot (Valdez) too many square pegs..

Ruiz has quick hands, good counters, and accurate combinations. If you can keep your distance he's an easy night but anyone who brawls with him in range will make him look pretty good.

He's nowhere near great and lots of fighters can beat him but he's a perfectly capable championship contender.

His speed does not surprise me since there are plenty of NFL linemen who have great speed and power in short bursts. Andy is no exception to this. Is he going to be the next what if and one hit wonder? He obviously has potential and all he needs is discipline but how many times have we seen that in the past few years with great promising prospects?

If he’s in at least some kind of shape, he’s a pretty tough out for anyone. Out of shape he a fat blob sucking air and trying to keep up.
