  • Manny Pacquiao was never a unified champion.

I’m not taking anything away from Pac’s unprecedented accomplishments, ABC belts don’t mean much to me,
but does anyone else find this crazy?

In the era of the 4 abc titles, you would have thought Pac would have unified titles in one of the 8 divisions he fought in.

    Maybe he still will...

Are there any other great fighters who never unified titles during the 4 belt era?

    Cotto is one I think.

    Technically should've versus Agapito, right?

Also, Cotto should've been unified after beating Clottey who beat Judah for the vacant.
Pacquiao would've had another shot at unification.

pac didn't really stay long in one division except for 147. he just kept moving up that's why his legacy is more about collecting belts in multiple weights than unifying belts.

I honestly can’t remember how I scored Manny vs Agapito. Didn’t one judge have it 6-0 to Agapito or something ****** like that. I do remember it being competitive though.

Crazy to think two guys on that card would end up doing over 4m PPV buys fighting one another around 15 years later.

Think Clottey vacated as he was ordered to face Delvin Rodriguez but rightfully chose to face Cotto. The IBF had some really poor champions at 147 around that period. Zaveck, Hlatshwayo, Randall Bailey in his late 30’s.

He was at 130 for a few years as well.

130 is where he fought the 3 great mexicans and a few other mexican fighters. i don't know what else could top that. who were the other belt holders at 130 during that time? the only other i could think of was joan guzman.

Its even crazier to think Pac and Floyd were the greatest of this generation and were never undisputed. Shows how f'ed up boxing can be politically.

Was a fan of Joan Guzman. Wanted to see him fight Scott Harrison over here, but the fight never materialised.

Think Edwin Valero held the WBA strap around then. That would’ve been a great fight.

You can’t fault Pac’s 130 run though. Marquez, Barrera, Morales x3, Oscar Larios too. Great run.

It’s very hard to be undisputed though with all the BS mandatories and stuff like that.

Since the creating of the WBO in the late 80’s we’ve only had 3 I think- B-Hop, Crawford and Usyk.

May and Pac were clearly the #1 fighter and lineal champion in several divisions they fought in. That counts far much more the holding the four ABC straps IMO.
