  • Comments Thread For: Rested Eddie Hearn 'Ready To Take Over The World'

Eddie Hearn has been around boxing all his life. But when he decided to start promoting, he and I would talk often. I was the editor of Boxing News, he was working on the rejuvenation of Audley Harrison and launching a three-round feast of violence called Prizefighter. But he gained traction quickly.

Loathe him or hate him, you have to admit, he's come a long way since fancying Audley Harrison over a prime Haye

Seriously though he's helped raise the profile of UK boxing and fits the promoter stereotype - sweet hahaha

He's arguably the best in the business at it. Like you say hate or loathe he knows how to work the system. Not keen on him myself but you can't fault what he brings to the table for his boxers.. he could polish an actual turd and sell it to someone as a potential boxing champ..

I absolutely agree with you. The yardstick for a promoter is always the success (financial) of their clients. Hearn has made a lot of money for a lot of his fighters whose careers were going nowhere, think Brook and Froch.

Imagine having to sit down with Chris Eubank Snr and negotiate on behalf of jnr? Then there's the likes of Dillian Whyte with little to no fanbase but will mix it with anyone but always pestering.

He does an impossible job with an admirable passion. I remember him drawing criticism for being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He acknowledged that with a smile but said how he turned that silver spoon into a golden one, he's certainly added that type of value to Matchroom.

Yeah Hearn literally has his own fan base of casuals over here.

You now have boxing fans and Sky/Matchroom fans in the UK. It’s f***ing sad really.😂

Best in the UK maybe, Big fish in a small pond. Had all of his daddy's money and stable to make big fights and sign big fighters

Came over to America with that money AND DAZN money and couldn't do **** because of his awful ****ing attitude.

First and foremost I'm a boxing fan (have been 30 years) but if you didn't appreciate the quality and entertainment of say the Joshua vs Klitschko card then you've no right to say you're a boxing fan.

                    Case and point...

Did you also appreciate Okollie-Chamberlain headlining a card?

                    How about Quigg-Carroll?

                    Brook-De Luca?

                    Whyte-Rivas on PPV?

                    Chisora on PPV?

He’s produced far more sh**e than he has quality.
