    Excelent Article.

Boxing is my passion, period. My parents introduce boxing to me the day I was born. I was around boxing all my life as a spectator and fought my share of amateur and professional fighters with headgear and without headgear. The shot I still have in my mind and never forgive, was a body shot of a special professional fighter who I admire until this day. Back to topic, the people I know that like boxing, is because was introduce by a family member or friend who is a hardcore boxing fan, outside of that, the rest like only big fights, especially PPV.

"Contrary to popular wisdom, boxing isn't an "old man's" sport. "

As far as fans? That's exactly what it is. And this you answer your own question.

Young fans don't understand the rules nor do they care to. "why won't that ref just let them slug on the inside? Why can't you punch behind the head? Why do the judges always score for that guy that throws less (but lands more)?"

When I was young, the fights were more accessible, shown on the big free to air channels, not so much the case today.

Make boxing a weekly show again. Fights here and there are hard for kids to keep track

You don't get punched in the mouth in basketball or football.

It's the same with people saying baseball is dying. They're the only athletes that get 100% guaranteed contracts and the stadiums are always packed... just like with boxing.

Average kids watch UFC. Bar bums kick each other in the face and choke each other out.

Coz they're mostly saps that actually enjoy Marvel movies. They've been failed by their parents.

Young people are no fools , they appreciate good match-ups . How many competitive fights we’ve seen lately?
Manipulators have turned the sport of boxing into record build-up for their fighters .

Boxing makes no fooking sense. That's why lotsa folks don't watch it except for the biggest main****** & novelty fights.

Boxing needs a equivalent to a champions league in soccer or whatever bs ball sport does that sorta sh^t. Top 12 or so boxers in each division in their own lil universe basically. They can only fight one of the other 11 guys. Lose too many fights & you get demoted to a sub-division. Win x number of fights in the sub-division or win some tournament there & you get promoted to the champions league with the other 11 guys. Or something more along those lines anyway vs the clusterfook of bs boxing currently operates under would make much more sense than it does today.

Hard if not impossible to make boxing as widely accessible as it used to be when there were far fewer channels. Hell boxing IS on all the time now, more than ever, but you gotta find it among the eight thousand channels folks have these days. Idk how you could recreate the reality of our youth in 2020.

It's the money. When they had great fights on regular tv every week, the sport thrived.
