He would be wearing the TBE hat
If Roy Jones Jr retired after he beat John Ruiz....

Yeah I don't think historically people would feel the same way they did in the moment. It would just be a win over Ruiz & as time passed people realized, probably a lot of smaller fighters could have beaten him.Comment

He would be up there and a lot of people would put him in the Top 5/Top 3. Hardcore boxing fans know he was a bad man and give him his props but his losses do seem to take a lot away from his legacy in a lot of people’s eyes. That and the PED situation.Comment

He definitely should have rematched Toney. That would have been the perfect move if the goal was to go back down. What if he dropped down to cruiserweight and rematched James toney for the ibf strap after ruiz . If it was the weight cut that apparently took Jones prime . He could have come in the exact same weight as he did vs ruiz. He could have gained 7 lbs . Cruiser limit was moved to 200 in 2003 i belive. Anyways all speculation, coulda, shoulda ,woulda........didn't. But cruiser was stacked then . Would have been awesome to see a still " prime " Jones vs bell, mormeck , haye etc .
How about this . What if Jones unifies at heavy vs byrd or didn't demand 90 million to fight Lewis and that scrap came off ??
I also thought Holyfield and Tyson were shot at that point. He could have beat either IMO. (Obviously wouldn’t have beat them in their primes)
Chris Byrd would have been interesting. Byrd actually fought at LHW late in his career which is crazy.
I do think by 2003 Roy’s reflexes had finally begun to slow though, gaining then dropping all that weight was crazy and killed whatever was left of his prime but it was coming to an end anyway IMO.Comment
