No offence to Ruiz but everyone knows he was pretty average at best so that win hasn't aged well.
Yeah I don't think historically people would feel the same way they did in the moment. It would just be a win over Ruiz & as time passed people realized, probably a lot of smaller fighters could have beaten him.

He would be up there and a lot of people would put him in the Top 5/Top 3. Hardcore boxing fans know he was a bad man and give him his props but his losses do seem to take a lot away from his legacy in a lot of people’s eyes. That and the PED situation.

This forum is full of casuals and people who've never fought before.

This is what you're going to get.

Anyways all speculation, coulda, shoulda ,woulda........didn't. But cruiser was stacked then . Would have been awesome to see a still " prime " Jones vs bell, mormeck , haye etc .

How about this . What if Jones unifies at heavy vs byrd or didn't demand 90 million to fight Lewis and that scrap came off ??
He definitely should have rematched Toney. That would have been the perfect move if the goal was to go back down.

I also thought Holyfield and Tyson were shot at that point. He could have beat either IMO. (Obviously wouldn’t have beat them in their primes)

Chris Byrd would have been interesting. Byrd actually fought at LHW late in his career which is crazy.

I do think by 2003 Roy’s reflexes had finally begun to slow though, gaining then dropping all that weight was crazy and killed whatever was left of his prime but it was coming to an end anyway IMO.
