One thing I found interesting about this fight that barely anyone talks about was Floyd hiring former members of Manny’s team. I think that really ****ed with Pacquiao although he would’ve lost anyway. Remember when Alex Ariza was with Manny and he was throwing 800-900 punches? I know it was against stationary targets but interesting he went from that to throwing less punches than Floyd. PED talk aside, I think Ariza was great for Manny and Floyd hiring him was a genius move. Alex knew everything. I’m sure he had loads of valuable information and he had a point to prove. Then once the fight came Floyd looked like he had way more energy than Manny who landed an average of 6 punches a round.
Floyd also hired his videographer who was very close to Manny for a long time. This was a calculated move too as he was out of work and had no income at the time and Floyd brought him in, gave him a job and I’m sure this made a difference too as he was around Pac for years and knew his team. Floyd said in an interview after the fight that he knew literally everything about Pacquiao’s camp from what he was doing to how he was looking to who he was working with etc. Call it what you want but I think it was a genius move although I do think he would’ve won the fight regardless.
