Who had a bigger fall from grace Dawson or Cory Spinks?

At their peak these two boxers were highly regarded and skilled but due to set backs and bad loses their names have fallen out of the minds of the casual boxing fans. In the 2000s they accomplished a lot but now they are long forgotten relics.

Who had the bigger fall from grace?

Spinks - is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1997 to 2013. He held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed welterweight title from 2003 to 2005, and the IBF junior middleweight title twice between 2006 and 2010. Additionally, he challenged once for the lineal middleweight title in 2007.

Dawson - He has held multiple light heavyweight world championships, and was one of the most highly regarded boxers in that division between 2006 and 2013. Dawson rose to prominence on the world stage in 2007, when he defeated Tomasz Adamek to become the WBC light heavyweight champion. After vacating that title, he defeated Antonio Tarver in 2008 to win the IBF and IBO titles, and defeated him in a rematch in 2009.

Honestly you don’t hear much from either of them now a days. However my vote goes to Dawson. While watching boxing in my tweens and early teens. Chad Dawson was a major force and at one point top 3 or 2 at his peak P4P. He seemed unbeatable. That Andre Ward fight was a huge setback and a fight he should had never taken. I guess he did it for the money ??? . However after that he was leftover food that Adonis just put on a nice plate and threw away that knockout was insane and that was the nail in the coffin to the once great P4P Dawson.

I would say Chad Dawson. His fall also seemed quicker.

Spinks remained at the top level for a good while and he could've been a WBC, WBO, The Ring and lineal champ at 160 (basically undisputed as Taylor had been undisputed prior to vacating the WBA and IBF). Yeah he may have lost 4 times in the closing stage of his career with that IBF 154 merrygoround but those were good fighters he was facing and he was past his prime.
Dawson on the other hand willingly sacrificed his prime by draining himself badly for the Ward fight and never recovered. Just bizarre decision making that ruined him.

I would say Chad Dawson because at one particular time he was high up on the pound-for-pound list and then starting losing to guys who weren’t world champions. Spinks lost a lot but always to titleholders I think his fall from grace had a lot to do with weight issues and staying at 154 for too long. Also didn’t happen that he was out of the ring for years at a time.

          Chad Dawson.

Biggest mistake he made was fighting Andre Ward at a catch-weight 'Really really silly'.

That’s definitely a good answer. Thank you for your insight.

Him and Kell Brook probably got the same life coach. Dawson was just ****** to actually think going DOWN in weight was a good idea to fight the best fighter at that weight. I can understand a catchweight maybe but that was nuts.
