Comments Thread For: Molina: We Knew It Was Either Kill Or Be Killed Against Matthysse

Lucas Matthysse was the only opponent who made John Molina Jr. swallow blood. The nerve damage Molina suffered in his left eye during their brutal battle also is the reason why Molina wears glasses. As if that's not bad enough, Molina had 17 staples placed in the left side of his head to a close a nasty gash he suffered in a vicious slugfest he lost by 11th-round knockout in April 2014 at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

His fight with Redkach was a war as well. He’s always in entertaining fights.

That fight ruined Matthysse. He was never the same afterwards.

It was a great fight, but Molina was always a gatekeeper at best.

How would you feel if someone followed you around and said things like “Jake is a good guy but his intelligence is average” or “Jake knows his boxing but his wife looks like Hillary Clinton and a dog mated”? Just seems unnecessary. We know what he was.

Molina had a big punch, a big heart to match, and always seemed like a good guy; there's been worse champs imo . . . . .

This was one of the best fights of the last decade IMO. Sure neither had great resumes but who gives a hoot.
