Some Canelo fans seem to have a bit of a hard time understanding how to score fights that Canelo is in.
Let's get right into it boys:
1) are you an official judge in a Canelo fight?
If yes, then 2) did Canelo do anything at all to deserve winning the round?
By this, I mean, did he land a flashy combination at one point; did he avoid a punch or two from his opponent; did he not get completely dominated.
At this point, you may be asking yourself - well what if Canelo's opponent does better work than Canelo in the round? Doesn't matter. All that matters is - did Canelo do anything at all in the round to give an excuse to give him that round. Remember this. This is important.
It does not matter if his opponent was better than him in the round!! That is not important in scoring fights with Canelo. We must simply generally ignore the work of his opponent. A good strategy is to comment on the work that Canelo does, and focus on that. Then while Canelo is taking his break, as he often does, and while his opponent is scoring on him, sometimes at will, you should continue to talk about and focus on the work that Canelo did.
'Wow Canelo looking great tonight...did you see him slip that punch a minute ago...fantastic stuff...yeah he's been on it all night really'
This 30 second dialogue will buy you time until Canelo has another good moment in the round. And don't worry, he is a good fighter and will have a good moment or two every round...so just hunker down and wait, you can do it!! Work on your filibustering a little bit.
Now - if yes to number 2, then 3) does Canelo need this round on your scorecard?
If yes, you give him the round.
This is the official guideline for how to score Canelo fights. Thank you for coming. If you have any comments or questions, please shoot me a message. Thank you.
