Comments Thread For: Island Time: Creating History's Greatest PPV Boxing Card

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Fight Island. Given recent quarantine-centric sports headlines, the two-word phrase probably strikes a chord. Some hear it and conjure images of a megalomaniacal czar putting profits ahead of employee safety, expert healthcare counsel and plain, old common sense. Others, meanwhile, are instantly drawn to an outspoken...

Are we sure Spence is back to how he was? Yeah, he says and his trainer says he looks great in the gym, but how many times have we heard that sparing isn't the same as a competitive event?

I find it really hard to believe that someone who was in the type of accident he was in comes back with no long term effects. For a start his back is probably 'off' and that will affect the rest of his movement in subtle ways. If he can come back and be the same then he must be one of the luckiest guys alive.

I wouldn't put him in with Crawford until I've seen him in with someone at a top 10 level. If I wanted to be perverse about it I'd put him in with Jaron Ennis, that would be either a hype-ender for Ennis or a career-ender for Spence. Spence was in Ennis' position 5/6 years ago when he was calling out Thurman.

Boxing fans gotta be the most unicorns & rainbow type fans of all sports fans with all this fantasy bs all the time. It's like the king of go to sh^tty boxing topics in normal times but now this bs is on steroids with all this mental ************ of goofiness during the quarantine era of boxing.

                That guys was terrible.

If we’re actually talking about the biggest PPV card it would be.

                1. Ali-Tyson (no fight could draw more interest)

                2. Leonard vs De La Hoya

                3. Mayweather-Pacquiao (in their prime)

Main Event - Ray Leonard v Ray Robinson
Undercards - Ali v Joe Louis
                  - Marciano v Frazier
                  - Hagler v Hearns (rematch of the War)
                  - Tyson v Tua (Just because everybody wanted to see it,....... It'd be like a car accident, you'd just have to look)

As did Ruiz against Joshua. That's why they are relegated to the opening bout.
