Defense
Clean punching
Effective aggression
Ring generalship

I think I read somewhere that you said Golovkin won because he landed more punches?? Am I correct?

If he didn't say it I'm saying it. He landed more clean punches than Canelo. That's a fact. Now if you want to downgrade Golovkin's jab I have to point out that Golovkin landed way more clean punches to the head than Canelo. Probably double.
Overall punches kanded. Golovkin.

Effective aggression.
Was Canelo effective? Not really he could not move Golovkin out of the center of the ring. Could not hurt him could not discourage him. He got outlanded in almost every round. Does not sound very effective to me.

Defense. Well Canelo had zero answers for Golovkin's jab and got hit more. Golovkin missed more punches. Slight edge to Golovkin or even.

Even.. Neither guy established dominance in the center of the ring.



There is a reason clean punches are listed first. Boxing is a combat sport it's not a dancing contest.

Quite simply the older man out boxed the younger faster fighter by using his jab mixed in with power punches to keep him off..

Did I say anything about ggg being better than Hopkins? I’m just saying he faced a lot of mediocre opposition during his run at mw, which was the original comparison being made by the other poster. It’s telling that a blown up ww was his biggest win at 36 years old more than a decade into his career. List his best opponents/wins at mw.

just so you know what you are dealing with...

I'll also tell you how I score them...generally give a 'full point' for a good hard clean shot...and a 'half point' for a punch that is a scoring blow but isn't necessarily super hard or clean.
