Does his money stop him from potentially getting racially profiled and harassed by police? Will that stop him from being hindered from living in certain places?
This is a boxing forum, did y’all watch the movie Hurricane about Rubin Carter? The simplest lesson of that movie is that money and fame doesn’t shield black people from being oppressed by a racist system. Carter had more money than most whites at the time..........did that stop him from being railroaded by a racist justice system and thrown in prison for something he didn’t do? The same could happen to Haney and any other black man in America. The Cosby situation is another example. Cosby had money, fame and supposedly respect. He had hundreds of millions of dollars and was a beloved figure in society. All it took was a media smear campaign, a racist public and a crooked system to railroad him into prison at 80 years old. Oprah’s next. They’re already setting her up for the fall.
You’re black right? I can understand whites denying the existence of racism, they have a vested interest as their beneficiaries of it. There’s no excuse for black people not o understand how racism works in America.Last edited by Goldie; 04-30-2020, 01:12 PM.Comment

My position hasn't changed. My position is I am unaware of any oppression Devin Haney is facing. I would like to find out what oppression Haney is apparently facing. It actually takes more courage to admit you don't know everything and admit when you're wrong. It's smarter to have an open mind and be willing to consider other ideas.
Yes you made that claim but you never explained how this is the case. There are people out there claiming America is racist against white people. Anybody can make any claim. It helps if you actually explain it.
No I didn't.
That could be because I did some research as you suggested but the truth is I never said I wasn't aware of any oppression in the past.
Not sure why you're so convinced I'm not being honest. You seem quite passionate on the subject and you claim to be knowledgeable about it so if you can't explain what kind of oppression Haney is enduring, how am I supposed to see it?
I'll say that is they case as far as I can tell. If you have evidence and/or a good argument against that I'm interested in hearing it.
Why should I answer your questions when you won't answer mine? Why should I answer questions when I never claimed America is or isn't oppressive? What difference does the date make anyway? To my (admittedly very limited) knowledge, in America, people of all races have the same rights and it is illegal to discriminate based on race. If I'm wrong please enlighten me.
I didn't necessarily want a debate. I just wanted you to explain how Haney is oppressed. It has just turned into a long back and forth because you wouldn't answer the question.Comment

(your blatant lying aside)Now we’re right back where we started. So since you’re saying that America used to be racist against blacks but is no longer racist against blacks, when did the racism against blacks end? It’s a simple question that you’re refusing to answer. You keep asking me to explain my position and prove something to you when you can’t even explain your own position and don’t even have the courage to take a clear position. i can’t counter your argument unless I know what it is.Comment

Wow you're putting a lot of effort into deflecting away from the question of what oppression Haney is facing. I've explained my position several times. I don't know what oppression Haney is facing and would like you to tell me, that's my position. You don't have to counter any arguments, just explain what you mean when you say Haney is oppressed.(your blatant lying aside)Now we’re right back where we started. I have explained it to you, you’re just too ****** to comprehend and we’ll just have to leave it there.Wow you're putting a lot of effort into deflecting away from the question of what oppression Haney is facing. I’ll reiterate my main point in the thread. What Haney said wasn’t racist and the only people who think it is are those looking to deflect from real racism that they probably perpetuate and benefit from. As his career progresses they’ll be white fighters who get a fair shot at disproving him and shutting him up. There’s no system in place that prevents white fighters from competing on an equal playing field with blacks.Comment

I may have missed it, but could you provide your definition of racism?I have explained it to you, you’re just too ****** to comprehend and we’ll just have to leave it there.

And, if some undefeated fighter that happens to be what you would call white had said he'll 'never lose to a black boy', would you consider that as racist?Comment

You haven't explained how despite having the same rights and freedoms as everybody else, Devin Haney is still somehow oppressed but yeah, we can leave it there. This has gone on long enough.Comment

Yea you missed it. I answered this question directly earlier in the thread. Read back through the last couple pages. When did blacks get the same rights and freedoms as whites? As a black person in America, I’m unaware when that happened. Even Jim Crow was sold and justified as “separate but equal”. You’ve got to be real dumb to think that just because something is put on paper that it’s being executed and protected in real life. Rights are only valid when they’re enforced, protected, and defended. On paper black men got the right to vote in 1870, but that right wasn’t protected. Being given the right to vote on paper didn’t stop whites from coming up with both legal and non legal ways to stop black men from voting. They came up with poll taxes, literacy tests, etc. They also used plain ole white terrorism in the form of the kkk and other deputized “good ole boy” groups that would sometimes kill/lynch black men who dared to try and exercise their “rights”. The **********s are still playing the same games as far as suppressing black voters now. All of this is easily verifiable information.
So if your argument is that systematic racism no longer exists because on paper it says that everybody is supposed to have the same rights and freedoms, then I understand why you’ve been so scared to come out and say that directly because it’s astonishingly ******. You’re either a racist yourself or you’re someone who’s not smart enough to understand what racism is and how to recognize it even when it’s right in your face. Either way, you should shut the fk up when it comes to discussing race/racism in America until you get a better understanding.Comment

That's what I'm trying to do here by asking what kind of oppression Haney is facing. You say just because people have rights and freedoms and there is no systematic racism on paper that doesn't make it so. What freedoms and rights does Haney not have? How is the system oppressing him?So if your argument is that systematic racism no longer exists because on paper it says that everybody is supposed to have the same rights and freedoms, then I understand why you’ve been so scared to come out and say that directly because it’s astonishingly ******.
