So what compels a black fighter?

That's because you suffer from having a Western "Civilized" mind. It comes from years of schooling and conditioning to think in certain terms and reject anything which challenges the false preconceived notions which were planted inside your head.

What compels a black fighter like Devin Haney or Bernard Hopkins to make a statement like they will never be beaten by a white fighter?
It does come across as a bit racist really but I'm trying to figure out if it serves a purpose. Is it to gain favour and build an Afro American fan base? If so would that not maybe cost them some white fans? Or is there some other marketing purpose?
Or do they just really mean it? I accept I'm British so I don't have my finger on the pulse of American race relations, is it just seen as a thing that its more embarrassing to lose to a white fighter than it is a black one?
I remember Hopkins said it and then Calzaghe beat him and Smith punched him out of the ring. It certainly didn't hurt my feelings that he said but he must of felt a bit ****** for saying it then losing to white guys.
My point being it just seems like a real dumb thing to say, even if it is to serve a purpose, even dumber if it doesnt.
Tbh...... It depends on where he said and to who. Cuz cameras off, mic off. This just vintage trash talk. And yes its a double standard to racial insults. Certain things a white guy cant say when blacks pretty much can say anything lmfao.
Shyt will never be the same... Or 100% equal.Comment
