The fact that he knows he can make a statement like that without any repercussions show he's well aware of the hypocrisy of race relations in this country. Although, he doesn't view it that way. He just knows that if anyone criticizes his statement, he can just refer to the same overstated talking points of slavery, cops targeting the black community, etc. Why? Because he's part of that "oppressed" group and therefore a victim.
