John Ruiz had a better resume than Wilder

The Quiet Man, who was often thought of as the laughing stock of the HW division...

    He had wins over:

    Holyfield (plus a draw)
    Golota
    McCline
    Oquendo
    Rahman
    Kirk Johnson
    Tony Tucker

Fake style. I disregard everything Ruiz ever accomplished. He and his trainer were and still remain ATG’s when it comes to laughing stocks.

Yeah he probably did... he beat very old versions of Holyfield and Tucker though. I thought he lost to Golota as well. Wilder’s run was nothing special but in context I’d take his career over Ruiz’s.

I’d still pick Wilder to do what Tua did to him as well tbh...

I wouldn't say Holyfield was "very old". It was less than a year and a half since he went the distance with Lewis when he lost to Ruiz. He was still competitive for another decade after the loss, but clearly not the best version of himself.

I'm not a Ruiz fan, but I think he beats anyone on Wilder's resume. Whether he beats Wilder is another argument that I'm not prepared to defend.

Even though I’m not a fan of John Ruiz, he has a better resume than any heavyweight who’s currently active.

Him watching that Golota fight on that small tv in the dressing room always makes me laugh, it’s the way he’s still going “come on Johnny” and just cursing the referee. Legend...
