Should boxing have a "masters" or "old man" classification?

We have weight classes but no age classes.

In my opinion in 99% of cases guys over 40 have no business getting in the ring with guys in their 20s etc.

This way it would make it more of an even playing field for old fellers who want to keep boxing, AND it'd stop younger fighters from cherry picking old men.

Think about it, when old men fight prime guys the prime guys get no credit for winning anyway so what's the point really?

Imagine Povetkin Vs Ortiz for the inaugural masters heavyweight title

    No.

Boxing is the worlds most inclusive sport, and it needs to stay that way.

If a man wants to fight, let them fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bernard Hopkins was 49 when he won his last belt. Foreman was 45 when he did and Pac just beat Thurman and people consider Pac a "old man" to me that's one of the things that makes boxing beautiful. It has no limits a fat guy can beat the body builder on occasion. The old man can still snuff the young gun out and your odd balls can be near unstoppable if the get on a roll.

I think that'd be pretty cool. Amateurs have it

Interesting concept, however I don't think it needs any official designation. For example, Povetkin vs. Ortiz could theoretically happen anyway.

You'll have canelo walking in with a disguise trying to fight them

I think it might be a good idea to have a 40-49 age class.

Then force guys to retire for good at 50
