In the end, everything might seem like an overreaction, but the fear was that if we didn’t take serious measures, COVID-19 would kill millions around the world. Yes, that was a very real possibility. People don’t think too much about insurance, until they actually need it. And as for conspiracies, world governments don’t willingly destroy their own economies.

        props ^^

thinking for yourself > shivering uncontrollably in fear

clearly, the numbers don't add up... and no, that is not by accident

          1) China are back to work dude, their economy is fine
          2) this thread did not suggest that the virus was released intentionally
          3) the premise is... the media is intentionally creating fear and panic

Your argument holds no weight. There are no preventive measures for the flu because it's not deadly enough to warrant them. COVID has literally put the whole world on hold.

If not a single country had taken such extreme preventive measures, of course it'd kill way more people than the flu.

12% of the infected have died in Italy; 3% in the US. Do you know what's the mortality rate of the flu? 0.1%.

Lets do the math for the year you mentioned and compare it to COVID so far:

            Flu:
            Total infected: 44.8 million
            Death toll: 61,000

            COVID (so far):
            Total infected: 560,000
            Death toll: 22,000

In other words, 2017-2018 flu affected 80 times more people than COVID (so far), yet had less the 3 times the death toll. Factor in the extreme preventive measures and the fact COVID killed 22,000 in 3 months, vs the flu's 61,000 in 12 months.

With no preventive measures in place, do you really think we'd end 2020 with less than 61,000 deaths? Come on man...

This is the bad side of the internet people have access to all types of information whether it's true or not and then start preaching like they have all the answers.

One of my little sisters friends died yesterday he was only 28 a little overweight but otherwise not terminally ill people can say what they want about conspiracies and scare tactics but in the end it's something that is actually happening people are dying at a fast rate from something that wasn't even around a year ago they want you to stay inside and avoid leaving to prevent the spread how hard is that to understand people think they are controlling them and feel they are entitled to rebel against it.

I'd like to get foreign opinions people who post here from countries other than the US because unfortunately the majority of my countrymen are idiots at least the general public they seem to think we are being controlled and forced to do things here like this isn't something happening worldwide.

Because of the social isolation the numbers where kept on check somewhat. If not the hospitals would had been overwhelmed and the number of deaths would be huge. Most will survive it but the panic would had overwhelmed the health system.

Your conspiracy theory doesn’t even make sense because anybody the least bit familiar with America knows that the country usually rallies around the president in time of crisis. People here even rallied around trump at first. His approval rating went over 50% during the first couple of weeks dealing with this and it hasn’t been until the last week or so when he’s reminded folk that he’s a babbling idiot that his approval has gone back down. These daily briefings where he lies and rambles on saying a bunch of dumb schit are what’s hurting him. If he were competent this would be a layup.
yea keep believing his polls are going down only idiot ********s believe that. That’s why you lost and will lose again by believing MSM ******* polls
