Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson: Boxers Will Always Make More Money Than MMA Fighters

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is a big fan of mixed martial arts, but he does not expect their combatants to catch up to boxers in terms of pay. There are countless boxers who earn significantly more money than most of the main event fighters in UFC.

True, Dana White and the owners of the UFC are not in the business of paying those guys Boxing money. They are already the only promotion that matters in that sport, if you are not the UFC champ your belt doesn't matter much.

But how could Dana White remain rich if he was paying his top guys Canelo or Joshua money?

In a way it’s kinda a good thing. Money kinda ruin boxing. People use the expose not to fight risky opponents then blame it on the money why they avoided that fight. In the UFC everybody fights everybody. One belt, one promotional company = happier audience. That greedy boxing marinating fights sht gotta stop.

So to put what you said in perspective, you're cool with the guys who are not putting their lives on the line pocketing all the money? I think you missed the whole point. UFC can maintain the same model while still paying their fighters more money,Dana and his cronies have chosen to pay themselves as if they are the ones in the ring. Money didnt change boxing, promoters did.

Maybe in a few years down the road athletes thinking of getting into one or the other will see that there will be no UFC pay increase. Welcome to boxing.
