You're spot on. Callum is on record saying he turned down the first offer, expecting a negotiation cycle but instead canelo made an agreement with BJS not long after. I'm not sure where the 'lowered offer' came into play but he had his chance, and blew it.

I wonder how angry inside he is at Hearn for blowing this opportunity? No doubt Hearn will have been pulling the strings and like most negotiations which go back and forth, so when Hearn most likely promised to get him more money and Canelo camp walked away he surely would have felt some resentment and kicking himself for not telling Hearn to take it at pretty much all costs....

From what I hear there's friction regarding Smith and Hearn as it is, so this will be another blow to him.

All this spouting is to save face but I think deep down he's massively regretting it which is showing in his interviews...

It would have ultimately been Smith's decision to accept or decline the offer so he can't blame Hearn.

Smith doesn't need to worry about Canelo he should concentrate on getting the other titles in his weight division (which he seems to be doing). If he can do that, Canelo or other opportunities will come.

Totally agree about your last part, however going back to the first. Yes Smith you would think ultimately makes a decision but if he's advised to reject it with the thought of going back Into talks (which generally happens in negotiations). We don't know negotiations what went off or how close, but I'm certain Hearn had it in Smith's head that he can get more out of it.. what Hearn didn't bank on is negotiation trends didn't happen and Canelo camp made the offer an walked away.. now it's all mute but Smith sure sounds bitter at something an my bet it's at Hearn as I've stated before that there's friction between the 2 from what I've heard....
