2003 Roy vs 2017 Floyd... Who was greater?

Let's say Roy retired right after Ruiz, who would've been the greater fighter with the better resume at that point in their careers? 2003 Roy or 2017 Floyd.

    Roy's resume:

    Tarver
    Ruiz
    Gonzales
    Woods
    Harding
    Johnson
    Hill
    Griffin
    Sosa
    Pazienza
    Toney
    Hopkins
    Malinga
    Castro
    Vaca
    Tate

    Mayweather's resume:

    Berto
    Pac
    Canelo
    DLH
    Maidana
    Ortiz
    Castillo
    Hatton
    Cotto
    Mosley
    Guerrero
    Baldomir
    Judah
    Corrales
    Manfredy
    Hernandez

      Good question.

For me, it's level of competition, How soundly were your opponents defeated, what were they ranked by The Ring or equal ranking system when you defeated them, etc. Another gauge of what type of competition you were facing is what were the odds of the fight.

How many weight classes did you conquer and belts held in same class? Did you unify or become undisputed?

Where were opponents at before you fought them and/or what did they go on to do thereafter.

It's not "who" you beat, but "when".

BWAA might have a different criteria though.

Roy and when you say dominate, he dominated.

            Roy no question man.

Floyd didn’t necessarily “dominate” anybody after Hatton.

He schooled a young green Canelo which was still an impressive win for him at the time.

He beat a past his prime Pacquiao on points. PAC won 4-5 rounds tho and some other rounds Floyd won were quite close so no domination at all there.

Maidana gave him a good first fight. Floyd made it up in the 2nd.

            Vic Ortiz? Lol.
