Comments Thread For: News: Robert Helenius, Kubrat Pulev's Trainer, Braekhus, More

Robert Helenius is now the holder of the WBA Gold heavyweight title. Earlier this year, Helenius, then # 7 in the WBA ratings, beat Adam Kownacki, then # 4, in what was billed as a WBA eliminator. In the new ratings released a few days ago Helenius is named Gold champion.

Pulev is better off with Joe Goosen than with Ulli Wegner in my opinion.

Helenius is 36, he was never very good and he should just follow the money. How about fighting Parker?

          Refreshing news article.

Good mix in these news. Cecilia Braekhus is not underestimating Jessica, the same Jessica who have a case for a win or a draw against Katie Taylor.

They're both fine trainers, though I think maybe Joe's maybe better in the corner (could just be cos my German ain't good enough to follow all Ulli's corner instructions though)... main reason I'd stay with Ulli is just cos they've been together for a while and Joe only joined the team recently. It can take a bit to learn to gel with a new trainer I think and one of the biggest fights of his careeer might not be the best time to switch.

That said Ulli's 77 now and getting hip fractures at that age is no damn joke, likely won't be able to do the day to day work anyways so if Joe and Kubrat have the time to learn each others ways properly it might be a good idea to have Joe as lead rather than run the risk of disruption closer to the fight.
