obviously the 2015 fight was big, but everyone knows that 2009 Manny vs. Floyd would of been the biggest fight of all time, both in their absolute prime.

Do you see any fight upcoming that could rival what that would of been

In terms of global interest the fight taking place at a later time, even though both were not as good as in 2009, made the fight much bigger then what it was in 2009.

2012 Q4 would have been the best. But not the biggest.

If the fight happened in 2009, it would have not done as well as it did in 2015.

I think the peak of the fight was in 2012, the last quarter.

But obviously in 2015, both fighters were still the top 3 best P4P fighters, #1 (Floyd) and #3(Pac). Floyd was the Ring champ at 147, Pacquiao was the #1 contender for in The Ring 147 rankings. So it was still a great matchup.

Clearly, Pac had a lot left in the tank at that, as shown in his 6 fights after that fight, going 5-1 with the 1 loss being controversial. Those 6 fights included a surprisingly good win over Thurman, taking his 0.

Don't get me wrong, Pac's run at 140-147 from De La Hoya, Hatton (140), Cotto, and Clottey was highly impressive and really made the Mayweather fight interesting in the first place. But after JMM killed the fight with the KO, the popularity of the fight was revived after Pacquiao had another good run of wins vs Bradley and Algieri.

And honestly, with Pacquiao's recent wins culminating with Thurman, nobody would be mad at Mayweather vs Pacquiao II. They are both still better than a lot of welterweights.

tl:dr: September 2012 would have been the fight at its best, before JMM KO'ed Pac cold in December obviously. But in 2015, the fight was very much alive, meaningful, bigger than ever, both fighters were at the top of the P4P and 147 lists, and Pac actually had more fight in him left in his tank than Mayweather. Mayweather had accumulated some good come-back-from-retirement wins with JMM, Mosley, Ortiz and Cotto. Pacquiao had 8 wins at 147.

Entering 2009, Pacquiao was P4P #1, Mayweather was no where to be found in the P4P and 147 lists until after September when he beat JMM, and, he was off for nearly 2 years. So 2009 was the best time only for those who wanted to see the best chance at Pac beating a rusty Mayweather.

Errol Spence vs Terence Crawford, build-up is there I see it happening after ESJ goes through DSG, Keith & Pacquiao and Terence ages.

Financially yes, in terms of quality of the fight, no.

2009-2011 both PAC and Floyd were closed in their prime, especially PAC. Pac’s prime wasn’t just about a certain skill set but also a his mindset.
He began fighting much more conservative and tactical after that Marquez KO. His output reduced, and he changed more into a points fighter. He’s still great obviously, and a top 10 goat.

          To answer the ts, No.

There will never be another May-Pac era.
Those two are in the top 10 greatest boxers oat, not to mention the two biggest box office draws ever for boxing.
And Pacquiao’s personality was just authentically beloved. You’ll never see that in a boxer again.

Well there's 2 things you're talking about here:

The 2015 fight was WAY BIGGER than the 2009 fight wouldve been. All the media between the two for SIX YEARS including Reebok commercials, postfight interviews, ESPN interviews, Bob'l Arums website countdown, Floyd going to jail and - on Twitter - offering Pac the fight (who denied so his cut from JMM 3 could heal).

2015 fight will be #1 for quite awhile in terms of PPV

But if you mean BIG as in meaningful as in 2 elite guys in their prime...some people dont want to hear this, but there is NOTHING on the horizon

Spence has shown hes NOT special and has been ducking Crawford for more than 1 year now. Crawford is 32 going on 33. Crawford has fought nobody so neither guy can be considered elite and Crawford is quickly leaving his prime.

Loma is leaving his prime and Gervonta still dont want that work. Gervonta has good power but is not special (yet) while Loma IS special, but is getting old fast

No boogeymen left for Canelo HOWEVER if Caleb Plant keeps winning in impressive fashion he could build into a great/elite opponent in 18-24 months for Ca$hnelo

Wilder isnt special nor is Fury

Both Mayweather & Pacquiao where Icons.

The next biggest fight to make now is? Joshua vs Fury 'These guys are superstars, but I would say only Joshua is verging on becoming a Icon'. In order to truly become a global sporting Icon in boxing you have to crack america, as the rest of the media world always looks to america 'America does not look to the rest of the world, as they are inside their own bubble'

If Joshua had fought in america since his professional debut, that would of benefited his career further more etc

Most big fights these days are not competitive, ether 1 guy dominates or blast another guy out or? Fighters seem to under perform etc Mayweather always fought well within himself, nobody was really good enough to force him to use all of his ability very rarely.

The last big fight where in my opinion both fighters left it all in the ring was Kiltschko vs Joshua.

There were fighters who were good enough to push Mayweather but he decided to wait until they weren’t. The guy didn’t care one bit about his legacy or boxing itself. Coward, businessman, whatever you want to call him, he was cancer for the sport. Horrible human being.
