The IBF is a rancid sanctioning body. This is why casual sports fans won't watch boxing.

I agree with you that he is one of the top 3 in the division especially considering Marquez is moving to 122. But I still cannot condone making him a top contender coming off of 2 straight losses. I could excuse the first one as Mabuza had to win an eliminator first and the first Marquez fight was stopped due to a headbutt (out of his control). But this time he was straight up KO'd. He should have to prove himself against a contender before getting another shot at a title. Not necessarily fair, but that is how it is.

I understand your concern i think.. you gotta look at the other fact though, the rematch wasn't exactly a lop-sided affair by any means, Mabuza took at least a couple of those early rounds (and really looked good in them IMO), it's that, coupled with the fact that the fight was stopped immediately after the 9th, due to the severely bad round for Silence, where Marquez just caught him with some aweful flurries. In theory, the fight could've continued, and i know Mabuza would've had the heart to continue to dig even after the punishment in the 9th, but his team (who i must give credit here), understands how good Rafael is and knows that theres better days ahead for Mabuza.

Agreed. Good stoppage by the corner. It will benefit Mabuza down the road by extending his career. He definitely should be in the mix for the title, I just want him to be coming off of a win when/if he fights for it.
