HOW is JCChavez generally ranked higher then DLHoya when DLH was clearly a better

I'm a firm believer in that MOST PEOPLE don't have a mind of their own and generally go along with whatever's popular or trendy.

Which brings me to this topic, I've heard some people in boxing circles sometimes put JCC was a top fighter of all time, but I'VE NEVER heard somebody say De La Hoya, although everybody knows he was good. People will say Chavez because in general because he's more loved (media loved his 100 fights back in the 1990s, it was like a circus act).

But lets talk X's and O's and do the eye test. De La Hoya had better footwork, he was quicker, better defense, probably a harder puncher after he matured, and was overall a much better fighter. Not only that he destroyed him in both fights (Chavez was only 31 or 32 lets not act like ancient).

So for those of you who will rank Chavez higher, forget his 100 fights and your love for him, but HOW?

Chavez won the majority of his biggest fights. Oscar didn’t.

I saw them both fight many times when they were in their primes and I think Chavez was better. Oscar beat Chavez twice because he was much younger and bigger. Young prime Oscar beat a smaller much older and way past prime Chavez.

For most of Oscars career he was basically a one armed fighter. Jab, left hook his right hand was terrible.

Chavez was 34 with 98 fights. Plus he was smaller and already fought Randall and Taylor twice.

              Chavez was 31 years old.

De La Hoya was NOT in his prime when they fought..De La Hoya was still a bit green.

The fact is everytime JCC stepped up against live fighters, he didn't look so great.

He was 34 his 2nd fight. De La Hoya vs Chavez was at SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT (most people think it was welterweight the 1st time). Chavez was a super lightweight.

Chavez had poor defense, but a granite chin.

And if we're going to be honest...Randall beat Chavez both times. Chavez got a gift decision over Randall the 2nd time.

I would rank ODH higher, but Chavez mostly came out on top in big fights
De la Hoya fought everyone but most of his biggest fights were losses.

                  Plus he's a cross dresser.

Chávez holds records for the most total successful defenses of world titles (27, shared with Omar Narváez), most title fight victories and fighters beaten for the title (both at 31), and most title fights (37); he has the second most title defenses won by knockout (21, after Joe Louis with 23
