Shields' promoter isn't nearly as confident that he'll ever complete a deal for a Sheilds-Cecilia Braekhus bout. FFS one is 23( or so) the other is nearly 40 and 2 or 3 weight classes apart ... why would they fight ? ... of course the overall womens standard is so poor but this is stretching it and not way to move the sport forward .. sounds desperate to me ..

I’m sure if they put enough money on the table and demand it @ 147 it can be made. Why at 38 wouldn’t she cash out? Salita probably offering peanuts to make the dam fight and trying to get it under his terms.

Why wouldnt you fault her? It would be a big fight for women's boxing and Shields would be willing to get down as close as possible to 147 in order to make it happen.

katie Taylor's 33 man, but more importantly perhaps they're fighting under the same promotion.

That said I wouldn't be at all surprised if Cecelia wouldn't want it... the point with Shields being young in this case is that it means she can rehydrate more, whereas Cecilia's never even been a big WW... there would be a big size difference on the night.

Not saying it shouldn't happen - after all a 36 year old Floyd was willing to fight a much bigger 23 year old Canelo, but both the size and age difference would be even more pronounced - just that to me it's not really any kinda blot on Braekhus if she doesn't.
