BJS made a dumb joke. I didn’t think it was funny but I know his personality. He tries to be funny and make everyone laugh. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we don’t.

Is this really worth suspending his license over?

No. Everyone needs to pull the sticks out of their @$$e$. There are plenty of boxers who actually beat their wives and kept their licenses.

I’d agree if he were a comedian. He’s a professional athlete, though. To turn a blind eye to something like his video is to say boxing is trapped in the past and still okay with that sort of behaviour.

It’s a turn off for women thinking about getting into the sport.

It shows a young generation who are in need of positive role models that this sort of behaviour is all a big joke underneath it all. They should instead be shown that there are lines, which are very clear, that should not be crossed. When you blur them then the wrong message can get across.

Let’s think of a punishment that doesn’t involve suspending his license.

Fine him $200k and donate it to a charity focused on domestic abuse.

When you’re trying to set a new precedent then you got to throw the book at a few guys in the beginning. So I sort of understand their reaction.

It all depends on who is doing the joking and who is on the receiving end of said joke.

I watched some members of this site make jokes or disparaging remarks about Kobe when he died. Those same members lost their shyt if someone dared to say anything remotely negative about Uncle Roger when he died. Funny how that works.

The world has gone PC mad...

Muhammad Ali would’ve had his licence suspended regularly if he fought today.

BJS punishment isn’t exactly a legit punishment though. Having his BBBofC licence suspended only means he can’t fight under the BBBofC which doesn’t mean sh**. See Haye-Chisora for example who used the LBF (Luxembourg Boxing Federation). Secondly, his next fight is likely gonna be in the US anyway so he doesn’t even need a BBBofC licence.

                  anonymous text is a given...

when you're a certified celebrity or athlete on social media promoting domestic violence on VIDEO is one thing which is different than if he SAID TO GARETH DAVIES on an off video mic recording. The bloke is a professional boxer. His hands are a weapon. If an awkward looking comedian did it, people would know he or she is taking the piss. But BJS doing it? The guy has mental issues. Wouldn't be surprised it that was from his upbringing. Sorry to offend any of you should you feel offended because ''well it happened with my parents but I don't do it...''

MORE IMPORTANTLY, you must be SICK to be doing all that during this pandemic. He said because we're on lockdown etc...he has a rather poor choice on how to deal with inhouse drama, promote domestic violence?

To put in perspective, if there was no crisis going on and Jack Black appeared as a Mexican Wrestler with a cape and said, ''if your lady gives you mouth, you....SLAP HER!'' He would still be highly criticized. So imagine BJS - a boxer whom apologized even earlier in the week for non-video - does this.

Any of you defending this are just arguing to argue. lol taking the piss

For context, I am not a Saunders fan, so I'm not defending him out of some knee-jerk reaction because of some blind loyalty. I don't like him to be honest, he's a jackass. But, he made an off-color joke about something many people have joked about while being cooped up in close quarters for extended periods of time with their significant others. It wasn't original or clever, but the humor of it resonates with many a married couple (trust me, there are plenty of women who would love to beat the snot out of their husbands if they could).

So again, a buffoon making a comment in jest doesn't compare in any way to a thug who actually beats his girlfriend/baby-mama/wife. I don't care if it's Mayweather, Tank or Kovalev for those who think I might be giving a particular race a pass on their abuse of women.
