People wanted to hate floyd because floyd played the “toxic negro” role that white America hates so much. It’s why Ali was booed as well. Had ali been like Joe Louis or Jackie Robinson he would have been more liked but never would have been the Ali that made a global impact. Now I’m not saying mayweather was Ali politically but I am dating he played the role that maximised his profits but at the same time angered the power base majority in the USA. People payed to see him one day lose. And then he made it worse by picking mexicans and mexican Americans to fight which brought in the Mexican American money and hatred especially fighting on Mexican holidays. Floyd was marketed perfectly. He pulled off the grift of the century....a relatively light punching (at welterweight) fighter producing few ko’s, being almost universally unpopular.....but made hundreds of millions off being hated by both white America and Mexican America....genius
