But Canelo was clearly a very poised young fighter. Way more fans were also calling for Mayweather to fight Canelo, because they believed Canelo could beat Mayweather. Many fans even claimed Mayweather was ducking Mayweather. Canelo har a strong backing from the fans and some good performances under his belt.

Lopez has a good win vs Commey and he has a very poor performance vs that Japanese dude, Nakatani or whatever (too lazy to look it up).

Also, Canelo will likely end up looking way more competitive vs Mayweather than Lopez will look vs Lomchenko. Not every fighter can be compared to each other. For example, no one is praising Jeff Lacy for taking on Calzaghe and getting his ass whooped. That could be how Lopez ends up. Canelo took his schooling very well, he actually didn’t get “whooped” in my eyes, just outboxed. But not in an embarrassing fashion.

Sure for some fights but best believe he will be in the greatest shape of his career for the huge mega pay-per-view summer showdown against Leo Santa Cruz.

He's gonna have to be to win that fight
Especially if it’s at 130 which I still believe Stank will come in overweight

It's the oldest trick in the book though isn't it? Become so hated that people will pay to see you lose.

LSC came out and said this fight will be at 130
Not sure where I read it
At 135 , Leo gonna have to dig deep to win ( plus Stank will come in at 145 ) if his fat regime is on point lol

In this case, with Gervonta, it's both. But Broner had a team behind him. It didn't stop him from losing fights due to lack of discipline. So Lopez's point is very valid.
I don't see Davis selling out arenas... But maybe I'm wrong.

                  Yea but Canelo wasn't a *****. Davis is a *****.

Davis won't rebound when he loses. He'll be similar to any of the guys who were wanna be's and finally got destroyed.

                  Hamed, Broner, etc.

The same that Nelson did when he fought Sal Sanchez. Nothing wrong with getting that experience. If you are really good two things are going to happens. One, you win and a star is born or two, and you loss while showing the potential. Mancini went that route just like Nelson and actually Sanchez did the same thing against Danny Lopez.

Can’t get better experience than that
It’ll only make him that much better
