This has been rehashed here a thousand times. Facts are this: the count was long. However, Douglas picked up the count of the ref (the only count that matters) and got up before the ref reached 10. If the count was done correctly, Douglas would still have gotten up before the count reached ten.
Im with you man it sucks. But same with the tyson fury wilder I, fury got a long count but got up before the ref reached his ten. The guy on the side that has gives the count to the ref should start a timer or something. Sports evolve and that might be a decent upgrade but it could also cause issues, who know.
But anyways i agree with you man i even saw him talk about it on his one man show. Its a shame considering the momentum tyson had but he sorta needed the wake up call if you can call it that but it was bound to happen when he thought he was so good he didn’t have to train.

- -Them "ain't just the facts."
Pure speculation. Facts are that the ref for that fight did everything he could to enhance Buster who was fouling most magnificently.
Facts are the fight would never had gotten that deep with Mikes alltime original HOF team behind him.
Facts are that Mike was certified mentally impaired at that point in time on strong, experimental psychotropic sedatives and not fit to fight for the rest of his career.

Just the facts ma'am...
That's fine. Maybe it needed to be said.
But it doesn't change the facts that:
Douglas fought wonderfully - few champions before that would've been able to beat Douglas that night. It was an ATG performance.
He didn't technically get a long count. Did more than 10 seconds transpire? Sure. That's almost always the case. Did the whole ordeal seem to take longer than usual? Sure. But did the ref stutter or delay once counting began, or take egregious steps to delay the start of the count? Absolutely not.
Mike's loss that night is tragic, but Douglas clearly wanted it more. And not unlike Fluffy vs. Joshua, he was being criminally undersold as a fighter ahead of the match.
