On R. Marquez-Mabuza:
Again, i hope you people give more credit to Mabuza in the future (i know he didn't receive much in their first fight).. i'd favor over many of the top guys at the bantamweight.. i wasn't upset with the stoppage by the corner there because of such a tremendous beating Marquez put on Mabuza in that 9th round, i really look forward to following Mabuza in the future
J.M. Marquez-Jandaeng:
I'll always give a Thailand boxer credit regardless of whether i've seen them or not, merely because i've never seen a quality fighter out of Thailand without heart.. Jandaeng took some shots that would've stopped other fighters way before the 7th and he even made the fight interesting, two very solid fights from Showtime (although they really need to get their "outdoor" production equipment in check in the future, everytime Nady screamed, i thought my speakers were gonna burst
)
Ouma-Powell:
The fight went just like i expected it to. Ouma's the biggest threat in the 154 division, period. He's arguebly one of the best pressure fighters in the sport today. IMO he deserves way more credit than he's given. On Powell, i still think he's a huge threat in his division, i think his whole gameplan was simply thrown off that night. Another great performance from 'The Dream'... title shot eminent?
Forrest-Quartey:
Great performance from both fighters first of all. As a Viper fan, i was happy with the decision
, although i'd have to say Quartey won the fight in honesty (especially with the extremely unneccessary point deduction, the blow was obviously unintentional as you can see Forrest trying to pull the punch back in the replay, (btw, what's with the ref "forcing" the fighters to touch gloves?, if the fighters don't want to, they don't have to, really didn't like the referee)) It's troubling to see Forrest continue to have problems letting his left go and i have a problem believing it's going to be a major attack ever again in his fights. I would say, however, that both guys still have a future in boxing. Another set of great fights, this time from HBO.
Hopefully i can be in town to talk with yall about fights on time the next go around..
