it was too late to start boxing at this age and that's why he took on mma. it will be a lot easier for the time he has to work with.
wilder is not technically a skill boxer... wilder is pretty much like kimbo but just started his boxing career earlier than kimbo did.. but wilder also doesnt have any fundamental, he just rely on his power. at least kimbo has the basic fundamental of boxing down.
I always wondered why he didn't go with boxing way early in his life - I would have loved to have a character like him in boxing - as you said, he was known for his stand up. I suspect he probably did try boxing early but realized he didn't have the reflex, hand speed, conditioning, or chin. He was still a beast in his own right, don't get me wrong. Wilder isn't that skilled, I get that...but he has some of the other qualities it takesLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 03-23-2020, 04:10 PM.

I always thought a educated power puncher could diffuse Deontay, make him fight on the back foot, nobody admittedly has the ring IQ of Tyson Fury but all boxers Punch harder than him. I’m keen to see Deontay’s demeanour when he is knocked out for the second time in 2 fights.

Kimbo wasn't clean. Didn't have the cardio (I mean, that Dada 5000 fight anyone?!), and he got KTFO by Seth Petruzelli. If Seth had the power in his hands to drop him, then odds are Wilder would have killed him.
