Let's not forget the song in his honor.

He got his ass whooped by Oli McCall (Lennox Lewis)
He got his ass whooped by Buster Douglas (Mike Tyson)
He got his ass whooped by Tommy Hearns (Roberto Duran)
He got his ass whooped by Montell Griffin (James Toney)

There are simply too many variables, uncontrollable factors, circumstances, changes, evolution and changes in application and approach to render any answer indubitable.

It's fun to discuss and debate P4P lists and GOAT, but it never need be taken seriously as there has never been a clear and distinguishable boxing deity or demi-god.

Of course, there are a group of fighters who may stand out or shine as superlative, sublime even, but not indisputably clear cut above all others.
While I agree with you, it's still a bad idea to make a case for anyone other than Ali being the best heavyweight.

Tris Dixon article is one of the best here again.

Thank you Tris Dixon for the tribute. Is sad that we lost Roger Mayweather, but his teachings live forever in the boxing landscape for generation to come. Rest in Peace Champ, you are in a better place now and you always have our respect inside and outside the ring.
