Which boxers got you into boxing?

Mike Tyson. I think it will be the same for most people born in the late 70s early 80s . I remember watching tyson fights at a young age with my dad . Renting the black box descrambler and watching his big fights. Then evander holyfield . Started following him after he beat Douglas and he became my favorite fighter . Having limited knowledge and no access to the internet ( just ring and ko magazines I would pick up here and there) I was even more blown away when I learned about his stellar cruiserweight career and hard luck at the olympics vs Barry. That being said tho holyfield was my first legit favorite fighter, Mike tyson got me into the sport for sure . Between the punch out game like someone else just stated and my.dad being a huge fan of his he was my first true look into the sport of boxing. This is prolly why I have always been a huge fan of the heavyweights. Altho I was a massive fan of the sport by the early mid 90s and really got into de la hoya , Trinidad, west pea and of course JCC. The 90s was such a great era for all boxing . Especially heavyweight . It was a shame when lennox retired we really havent seen a top notch heavyweight landscape since , however I feel like we are about to enter a potentially golden era for heavyweights coming up in the next few years . So many potentially great young heavyweights on the rise , **** is going to be interesting . This all being said I think when a guy like tyson comes around they draw alot of new fans to the sport . Iam sure most people who were young when tyson was coming up and during his first reign can accredit him for getting them hooked on this fabulous sport . As is evidence with the 2 posters before me dropping the same name . Stand up mike tyson !!!

And Vernon Forrest vs Shane Mosley 1 was one of the first fights I've ever watched, I was hooked after.

Jones at his peak was something special to watch , the type that draws new or young fans or even turns casuals to die hard fans . Simular to what I saw in tyson a decade or so earlier . They were special.and you knew by watching them once . They dont come.around often but they get u hooked and searching for the first high u got when u seen them initially . They are like heroin for boxing fans hahah. They may never be replicated but they make you yearn for another special fighter to give u that same nostalgia and then grow as a fan and find other phenomenal talents and styles and they u are even deeper . Since the internet has become a house hold.thing with youtube etc I have spent way too much time studying past fighters and watching old.fights it something I wish I had as a young fan . What a time we live In !!

Grew up watching Tyson with my dad in the 80s, and once Tyson got sent upstate we watched alot Holyfield and Foreman fights together .
Also Hector Camacho was pretty popular around that time.

By the time I was 16 I was catching any fight I could find on TV

For me it was Rickey Hattens fight against Mayweather. Surprisingly, and somehow that hooked me. I hadn't really watched any matches before that.
