Why did derachenko duck Canelo to fight GGG

Was it because he chose the easier fight?

He took less money and it almost paid off. Canelo beat the guy he lost to. All worked out except for Sergiy

Because Golovkin, at this point in his career, was perceived to be the far easier opponent, and the far easier route to a title, and rightly so. Golovkin is a shot fighter.

With a title in hand, a subsequent Canelo clash would haven gotten Derevyanchenko a larger piece of the pie. The strategy almost worked.

Derevyanchenko and his team are not delusional, they know quite well that a win against this prime version of Canelo is next to impossible. So what counts is the money.

Because Alvarez wouldn't honor the IBF's designated purse split so the IBF showed him one monkey doesn't stop a show.

He was getting similar money...if he fights GGG and wins, then a Canelo fight is very possible, and he would likely make double vs what Canelo officially offered...if he fights Canelo first and won, then his best hope is Canelo and co. paying him more in the rematch, which is likely but not sure how much more they would pay.

He also had roughly zero chance in beating Canelo on the cards in a close fight...he probably had about that chance vs GGG in a close fight as well though....facing Canelo you know you have 0 chance to win on the cards if you are Derevychenko (some guys have a small chance)...vs GGG he knew he probably had a chance to win on the cards...but to be fair to SD, he fought really well that night and it looks like he would have had to completely dominated GGG to win on the cards too.

MAYBE because nobody gets a fair shake, including FMJ, when it comes to decisions vs Saul? Makes sense to most logical boxing fans, OBVIOUSLY not to fanboys.

Nice sarcasm! Ok but I never heard of a boxer avoiding a fight simply cuzz of the judges! How ironic he ended up dominating ggg and got robbed anyway without no rematch. I bet he would have gotten a rematch from Canelo

You have it backward as usual Canelo ass kissing ******. Canelo ducked dervy and gave up a belt to do it, Canelo was the champion and Dervy had to fight him to try to win the title, All ****** rich Canelo had to do was make the fight, If he felt dervy was asking to much he could have gone to purse bid. But no, your hero chickened out and gave up his IBF world title instead. But keep on trying to rewrite history. Canelo could have fought Dervy to try to keep his title by paying Dervy what is pocket change for Canelo. Instead he gave up his title without a fight. So GGG fought the guy Canelo refused to fight and won the title Canello refused to defend,
