WBC champ to make first defense Nov. 26 in Seoul
By Joe Koizumi
Korean promoter Kusung Lee of Poong San Promotion has announced that he will stage a WBC featherweight title bout between newly crowned Rudy Lopez of Mexico and ex-WBC ruler Injin Chi in Seoul, Korea, on November 26. Lee and Jose Alberto Gomez, the manager of Lopez, reached an agreement due to the previously executed option contract that Lopez would make his initial defense against Chi in Korea. The 22-year-old Mexican Lopez impressively captured the WBC throne by scoring an upset TKO win over 35-year-old defending champ Takashi Koshimoto (who had dethroned Chi this January) in ***uoka, Japan, on July 30.
Should be an intresting fight, maybe lopez winning was a fluke or we'll see how much Chi has left.
