Comments Thread For: Haye Could See Joshua Blasting Out Pulev in 2 or 3 Rounds

Former two division world champion David Haye is hoping Anthony Joshua will revert to his seek and destroy ways in the upcoming clash with Kubrat Pulev. Joshua will make a mandatory defense of the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles against Pulev on June 20th in London. The contest will be the first for Joshua in the UK since the fall of 2018.

Joshua is not that kind of fighter. He has a bit of Lennox Lewis in him. He can not afford to come out all guns blazing because he will get knocked out. He needs to utilise his jab and soften his opponent then after 7 rounds he can try the knockout.

I agree yes, ideally that is the way he should fight, for maximum results.
He does, however, have a bit of anger in him, and I think he will exercise less self control than he showed against Ruiz. If he gets Pulev going, I do not think he will show the same restraint he did in Ruiz2, no matter if it's the 3rd round or the 7th round.

It’s funny that Haye, who said Fury would never fight overly aggressively because it’s not in his DNA, thinks Joshua can suddenly come in and Mike Tyson someone. He completely changed his opinion of what is possible because of one fighter in one fight.

I think the Ruiz loss has left me with some scepticism around Joshua's ability to go toe-to-toe. Pulev, to me, is like Povetkin. An Eastern-European fighter with a lot of experience at the top level and Povetkin caught Joshua napping early (albeit without ever really troubling him) and I can see Pulev doing the same.

That's the thing with being a Joshua fan - that suspect chin exemplifies Heavyweight boxing; anything can happen. At least with the likes of Fury and Wilder, you know what you are going to get (most of the time).

I don’t envisage a Charles Martin style destruction but something akin to Joshua’s victory over Breazeale; tenderised for 5-6 rounds and then put to sleepy byes.

i just hope he doesn't fight like a sissy like last time.

Destruction would be cool but I think he's turned into Wlad these days.

Martin vs. Joshua was no destruction. Charles Martin beat the count, he was never hurt.

Perhaps because we've seen Joshua do that multiple times already and never seen Fury do it?
