    BOXING without FANS

More of a question here, Showtime did a card without fans under 100 total. So how do boxing fans feel about future fights without fans ? Do you find it acceptable, worth viewing ? Also there are things that I am sure fight fans might enjoy maybe large screens with stats or people's verbal reaction (odd I know). Suggestions ?
The positives is not as much hype, no interuptions from a roving personality with a Mic asking cornernmen questions head shots of personalities. Just wonder what others think or input into another card if they materialize.

For me the real pro is being able to hear everything that's going on in the ring because of the lack of crowd noise.

The biggest con is its wierd.

The numbers don't really work out to keep venues open with no ticket sales or patrons, but the networks are going to be extremely desperate for content over the next few months.

I think everyone is going to be sitting on their hands for the next month, but after that, if public gatherings are still banned, I'd expect to see Top Rank shoot some lower-level fights in a studio. Top Rank is a full-fledged media company and have already discussed the idea.

Necessity is the mother of innovation. I'd expect to see boxing back on TV by June, if not sooner, one way or another.

UFC is moving ahead with their fights with no crowds. Its a lot different though since that is one giant monopoly company and they have complete control.

Boxing is more spread out and there are all the non televised fights or espn only type fights that depend on the gate revenue.

For the bigger fights, they will be hurt less since PPV funds most of the revenue anyways but the smaller fights and undercards depend on the gate revenue.

I think the promoters want to do these as viewership will double or triple.

You wait until you see the PPV results for Khabib vs Tony.

the fans really does nothing for me.. as long as there's still the commentators.. when i watch fights on tv.. i watch the boxers and listen to the commentators.. i dont pay no attention to the fans, i'll admit it's gonna take some time to get used to an empty arena though.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ShoBox Quadrupleheader this past Friday...all action! I really didn't notice the crowd not being there most of the fight.

I'm not sure who's been to a live fight, but it's relatively quiet until someone gets hurt, dropped, or slips and falls.

And truthfully, if these promoters can swing this whole thing....they can actually downgrade the venue sizes and still go through with the fights...as long as everybody's tested beforehand.

I mean, why do you need to be in a 10k seat venue when there's only gonna be about 30 people in there anyway? As long as the lights are bright enough and we have a telecast, I don't see the issue with it.

Hey, if the big-name fighters wanna sit out because of the fans, then that's cool. However, the up and coming fighters should still be allowed to fight. I can't stand these "state of emergencies", but we have to do what we have to do right now.

Dunno. Crawford trying to sell people on a stream or a PPV = no money.
