  • Comments Thread For: Haye: Maybe Third Spot is As Good As It Gets For Wilder - Maybe Not

Former two division world champion David Haye has evaluated the heavyweight division and hands down his top five at the weight class. He views former world champion Deontay Wilder as the top three heavyweight fighter. Last month at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Tyson Fury capture the WBC world title when he stopped Wilder in the seventh round.

Wilder is done. Hes been exposed. Surprised that bum made it this far. Any fighter in the top 5 or 10 will beat him

Deontay Wilder is a lesson for young boxers in not over-specializing. No matter how good you are in one area, if that's all you do, then you provide a pattern for opponents and their trainers to predict.

I'm no hype believer, but I can't see anyone outside of Fury, Joshua, Usyk who would give him to much trouble.
Maybe a game Ruiz if he's fit, but he was easy to hit against Joshua in both fights, granted he out worked Joshua in the first, and will get flattened without changing his style.

Whyte is risky but is even easier to hit, so I can see him getting sparked early, no doubt that he has a good chance now Wilder's air of invincibility is gone.

Washington, big baby, Martin and even Pulev I see getting destroyed by Joshua, Usyk, Wilder and Fury. Outside of those there's really only Dubois who will be protected by Warren for a while yet, maybe for a vacant title when it becomes available.

I think Wilder's age is going to be one of his biggest limiting factors very soon. He's a reflex / speed guy who relies on the briefest moments where his opponent switches off. That window of opportunity for opponents to react to the right hand is going to get larger and larger from 35+ most likely. However I think he's better than most of the top 10, however just like AJ - he has chin troubles for sure and that means anybody can beat him, it's just a percentage play

I still think Wilder knocks out anyone, except Fury. Fury is too clever, has a good chin as well and great recovery instincts and will. It's very hard to knockout a guy like that. Wilder would have Joshua doing the Amir Khan dance in my view.

Fury is clearly ahead of Wilder at this point, but there's no evidence to rank Joshua ahead of wilder. Wilder was just pummeled by an elite hw who was lineal champion. Less than a yr ago, Joshua was battered until he quit vs a fat butterbean type hw. His uneventful John ruiz like decision win vs an even fatter Andy ruiz doesn't erase his loss and the vulnerability he displayed.

AJ would walk wilder down just like fury did, only he hits much harder...

& Wilder’s best win is against Ortiz who, let’s be brutally honest, isn’t an elite heavyweight, doesn’t have the vaunted power that all boxing scribes rave about and who himself hasn’t fought or beaten anyone of note. This is the reality of the situation.

Joshua ran like a naked girl in the street against Ruiz! Would probably buy a Ferrari against Wilder..
