Comments Thread For: Usyk Warns That He Won't Be 'Cheated' Out of Joshua Title Shot

Oleksandr Usyk has warned that he will not allow anyone to "cheat" him out of his mandatory crack at the heavyweight title. Usyk is the mandatory challenger, under the World Boxing Organization. The current WBO world champion is Anthony Joshua, who also holds the IBF, WBA, IBO world titles.

outside of Fury, HW division is so full of flawed fighters that Usyk could have staying power. If he’s got any chin, he should beat the robot

Fury is flawed too. Remember his fight before Wilder 2? With the cut etc. He looked really bad vs a southpaw. And Steve Cunningham? Basically a less strong less powerful less active less complete Usyk? Almost knocked Fury out. Again, southpaw.

Usyk vs the top heavyweights should look like Floyd vs all those slightly bigger but much slower less skilled welterweights, like Carlos Baldomir vs Floyd or something like that. Only difference is Floyd still had the reach on all of them, but Usyk hits harder than Floyd even at heavyweight, throws way more punches, has a lot of advantage categories compared to Floyd in his own right.

Usyk could legitimately run heavyweight for the next 10 years if that's the route they decide to go. Cruiserweights could barely touch him after the first few rounds of their fights, and the top heavyweights are generally less agile than the top cruiserweights...

I think Fury vs Usyk is a good match though. I'd like to see that next more than Usyk vs Joshua.

With this outfit, Usyk can be one of the bad guys in a bruce lee' movie.

If AJ wins his fight this June and Fury in July they can unify next sometime in november, then make a rematch in may 2021 and after that Fury retires, so Usyk can wait for his shot till summer 2021

Comparing Usyk to Floyd is quite a stretch don't you think? Usyk is a talented well rounded fighter but comparing him to possibly the best defensive fighter ever is far fetched to say the least. Usyk gets hit quite a bit to be as talented as he is and some of these heavyweights hit like small trucks.

It's really hard to judge where Usyk stands in the division considering he went 7 rounds with Witherspoon much less leaping out there and saying he could run the division for a decade.

              Agreed.

And he's daring to be great.

I'm not gassed on Usyk as many are at this point.

Saw an interesting video on him the other day, stating he's a 33 year old pressure fighter now starting to pick up fairly serious injuries, and carrying an extra 20lbs into the ring.

I loved watching him work at CW but I just have this niggling feeling that he may have already peaked, and those big boys at heavy are really big boys.

I agree Fury is flawed he is chinny but you can't compare Wallin to Usyk who is way smaller naturally yeah both southpaws with the same reach but Fury would be able to bully Usyk who likely doesnt have the firepower to hurt Tyson he wasn't able to do that to Wallin because he is a big guy who has some pop in that left hand.

Also USS Cunningham is a right handed fighter and he dropped him with the overhand right.
