Comments Thread For: Briedis-Dorticos: WBSS Exploring All Options To Proceed With March 21

At some point, Mairis Briedis and Yuniel Dorticos can look forward to competing in the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament. For now, the harsh truth is facing the reality of yet another delay. As sporting and entertainment events around the world are postponed-or canceled outright-due to coronavirus concerns, the last remaining bout of the second season of the WBSS tournament is determined to hold the line as currently scheduled. The cruiserweight final is due to take place on March 21 at Riga Arena in Briedis' hometown of Riga, Latvia. However, a state of emergency declared by the Latvian government included the distinction that "public events, meetings, processions and pickets with more than 200 participants are banned as of March 13 till April 14, 2020."

      Is canceled.

This fight is not going to happen not matter what, during this Corona Virus issue. I was salivating for this one.

I don't see a problem having this fight continue at a empty venue if that's an option.

I think fighting in an empty venue is weird af.

Fights are about the spectacle, the event.

Just would be strange. Maybe they could be in a tape of people cheering and booing and yelling and clapping.

It's weird no doubt, but being that it was so close to happening I say fook it lets just make it happen by any means possible.

I doubt it's something that I'd wanna experience til May or June doe, but as a one off I'm cool with it.
